When to hunt Bighorn Sheep!

Bighorn sheep are typically hunted from early August to late November. The areas they call home are rugged and wild and weather can certainly play a role later in the season. The early season opportunities offer a better chance to see the rams bachelor up allowing you to field judge them side by side. The peak of the rut however takes place in November and offers more opportunity to see the rams that may have been laying low in a hard to find place. The type of weather a hunter prefers can also be a driving factor when to hold the hunt.

Best places to hunt Bighorn Sheep!

There are opportunities to hunt Bighorn in several states, but far and away the top trophy state to hunt them is Montana. Alberta also claims a large portion of the record book rams.
